What Are Self-Ligating Braces?

Self-ligating braces are actually identical to metal braces when it comes to the material that they use. Additionally, they work in a very similar way as well. However, the main difference between these two types of braces is that self-ligating braces use a specialized clip instead of elastic rubber bands to help keep the archwire on the brackets and guide crooked teeth into alignment. This special clip is essentially a small, spring-loaded door that holds the archwire in place. This clip allows for a more efficient orthodontic treatment.
